Do You Doubt Or Believe?
By: Elder Davida Wedington

James 1:5-7 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord”.

When we ask God for something, we must ask in faith, believing we receive our answer and not wavering in doubt. James 1:7 says, “For let not that man [the person who doubts] think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.” Many times when people are standing for something and you ask them “do you believe it’s God’s will to deliver you?” Their response most of the time is, “well I hope so”. Their words show they are only hoping they will receive what they are standing for, but they are not in faith. They ask for prayer, but in their minds they think, “I know I won’t get anything, but I’ll give it a good try anyway.” Don’t let that happen to you. You’re not going to receive anything from God by “giving it a good try.”

There is no limit to our asking, only to our thinking.

Our thinking must be tuned into God. John 15:7 in NIV says, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

If God says He is able, then He is able! And He moves according to the power that is working in us. When you tap into His resources through faith and sowing, God will start blessing you financially. You’d better get some baskets! You’d better get some trucks! God will “increase your increase”…..Now that’s increase!

Have you asked God for physical things? Sure, most of us have. Yet why is it that the church world seems so bent on your not asking for physical things? There is nothing wrong with having things, so long as things don’t have you.

You can never think too much. Why? Because you will never get beyond God’s ability. He’s limitless! God wants to manifest Himself beyond what we can ask or think.

I John 5:14 says, “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, he heareth us”.

In St. Luke 1:45 in the NIV translation, it reads “Blessed is he/she who has believed that what the Lord has said to him/her will be accomplished”! Great happiness comes to the heart that is trusting God. To doubt God is to question His character; to question God is to doubt His Word. Trust keeps you from holding back. It helps you embrace His Word with a total “yes” and release all things into His hands.
