Your True Potential - Dec. Latoya Hunter

When speaking with young adults about faith and religion many are reluctant to give up those things which “make them who they are”. Many do not realize that they are gaining so much more than what they are giving up. They do not realize that faith and religion will make them into the person they were created to be. For it is only through Christ and his love that we reach our true potential. Duet 28:1 says, “IF YOU will listen diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments which I command you this day, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth”(AMP). When we make the decision to let Christ in our lives and let his will be done through us we open ourselves up to his endless love. The Lord wants to do things for us and through us that we ourselves could never imagine.

Many young adults look at the economy today and feel as though they have nowhere to turn. There is so much talk of people losing their jobs and their homes, so many families struggling to pay their bills or put food on the table. They feel trapped and many times, may try to make their own way, no matter what the means. Little do they know “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles” (Psalms 34:17 AMP). God only wants the best for us, but it is up to us to make the first move. A move that is very simple and yet many young adults are reluctant to make.

Many young adults need to take themselves out of the picture. Once they come to see Christ as the loving father he is they may become more willing to accept the gifts he has to offer. Life is not always about what they see or feel as being important to “who they are”. Many times it’s about what people don’t see that makes a person into who they were truly meant to become.
